Blurb:
A vision. A lost talisman. A dangerous journey through time…
A month after their bonding, Ari and Andreas are still adjusting to married life when they learn the hard way that the O-Seven, the terrifying and brutal vampire elders, still have them in their sights. A three million dollar bounty hangs over each of their heads, and there’s no lack of assassins eager to collect.
When the local seer has a terrifying vision of the destruction of Riverdale, it’s up to Ari—as usual—to keep everyone safe. Only this time, an enemy from the past has bound her fire powers, and the city’s string of arsons seems connected.
Daron, the vampire prince in Toronto, has information that two of the vampire elders are on their way to Riverdale. Which can’t be good. Only a risky and unprecedented journey through time can provide the help they need. But that will leave Andreas to face the O-Seven alone…

Excerpt:
The tracks in the snow gradually moved up the slope toward the older parts of Riverdale, out of the tourist district, past residential homes, angling toward the cliff area that overlooked the Mississippi River. Then it took a sharp swing north.
Ari looked ahead, her gaze following the tracks through the gate and into the Riverdale Cemetery. “I don’t like this.” She came to a stop with one hand on the gate. “Don’t you think the trail is a bit too obvious? As if he wanted us to follow him?” Her eyes scanned the cemetery grounds for anything unusual, a shadow, a hint of color out of place among the stones and crypts. The only sizable tracks went behind a tall mausoleum.
“A trap?” Ryan drew his pistol. “Do you sense something?”
“Maybe. But there is a lot of magical interference in graveyards.” Ari frowned. She sensed a flicker of Otherworld power, but it didn’t feel right. Shielded? Would a halfling demon be that good? She eased through the gate; Ryan followed close behind. Her magic stirred, raising the hairs on her arms, and she stopped, extending her witch senses to probe the area around them—tasting, smelling, touching the environment. Her magic roared to life.
“Back!” she shouted. “Power. And lots of it.”
Two gigantic figures leaped from the top of the nearest crypt. A howling rent the quiet of the cemetery. By the time the creatures landed—one in front of Ari and Ryan, and the other cutting them off from the gate—both had morphed into fiery red, eight-foot demons, their eyes deep black holes. Each carried a metal shield and swung a five-foot mace.
“Hellsgate warriors!” Ari crouched, raising her fingers to call the witch fire to her command.

Blog Tour GIVEAWAY: November 7-10: Readers and writers always talk about characters in books, but settings are almost as important, and they play a huge role in the Guardian Witch series. Wild Fire is no exception, and this blog tour is revealing several settings that are the backdrop for major events in the book. In fact, I think they’re so important that I’m running a special contest.
If you collect the names and numbers of all ten settings, you could win your choice of three ebooks in the series (including this latest release) or a $15.00 Amazon gift certificate. It’s easy to do. Here are the rules.
Visit the blogs on this list — or enough to collect all ten settings — then email me at allyshieldsbooks@gmail.com by 9:00 a.m. EST, Monday, November 10, 2014 with your completed list. You will automatically be entered in the random drawing (two winners).
NOTE: A setting may appear on more than one blog, so be sure you have 10 different settings before turning in your entry.
Here is the list of participating blogs*:
(*If you can’t find a post, return to allyshields.com for updated links and blogs.)
Now for the setting:
Setting #1: Toronto, Canada – The vampire court in this city was won by Andreas when he defeated Sebastian in Book #3. He later traded with Prince Daron in order to return to Riverdale.
Good luck! Thanks for joining Wild Fire’s release celebration!
More Fun: Those of you who read this before 6:00 – 10:00 p.m. EST on November 7, are invited to join us at the official Facebook release party (https://www.facebook.com/events/314795258698003/) for games and prizes, including books, swag and more gift certificates!!
Hello and welcome to my stop on the Paranormal Romance Howloween Blog Hop! Stay tuned for details about two gift card giveaways! But first, I’m going to tell you about something I LOVE! Scary movies!!! Here’s my top five scary movies that are sure to put you in the candy-giving, thrill-seeking, goose bump-covered Halloween mood!
5. The Blair Witch Project
Before the movie cam out, I saw a documentary on television about this documentary film (confused yet?), and I became convinced the whole thing was real. Yeah, maybe I’m a tad gullible, but the whole idea of the Blair Witch creeped me out. This movie expertly weaved in the fear of the unknown, which in my mind, is terrifying.
4. The Exorcist
This is the movie that started my love affair with all things horror. My mom sat me down at the tender age of ten and made me watch it. *twitches* And see how well I turned out? Seriously though, after seeing this movie, attics will never be my friend (further evidence of this is in my book What Gifts She Carried), and I’ll never look at a crucifix the same again.
3. The Silence of the Lambs
One of the few horror movies that has won Academy Awards, this film definitely made an impression. I was about twelve or thirteen when I went to see this movie with my parents, and I remember vividly not being able to breathe during the last third of it. But breathing’s overrated, especially during scary movies.
2. The Shining
I’m referring to the Stanley Kubrick movie, not the drawn-out mini-series. Part of why I love this movie is Jack Nicholson and his brilliant, albeit over-the-top, performance, the imaginative use of everyday sounds including silence, and the long, empty (though not always) hallways.
1. The Ring
I saw this movie by myself, at night, when I was out of town for a work-related thing. When I tried to go to sleep in my hotel room, I imagined Samara standing at the foot of my bed and her long, black hair slithering over the covers. Needless to say, I didn’t get much sleep that night. For giggly fun, I like to shake all my hair in my face and walk in a herky, jerky fashion toward my boyfriend. He LOVES it! /sarcasm
So there you have it! My top 5 scary movies, though if I had time, I could go on and on about my other favorites, including some Alfred Hitchcock classics I didn’t mention. But I know you’re anxious to hear about the giveaways!
I’ll give a $5 Amazon gift card to a random commenter if you answer this question: What’s your favorite scary movie? Don’t forget to leave your email address!
For giveaway number two, click the Rafflecopter below for a chance to win a $50 Amazon gift card!!!
Don’t forget to hop around the other Howloween hops for even more chances to win great prizes!
And also, check out Jane Wakely’s blog: www.hopswithheart.blogspot.com She is the brain child behind this blog hop! Thanks, Jane!
Does anyone remember that Ministry song called “Everyday is Halloween?” No? Well, here you go.
I’ve come to realize that, to me, everyday really is Halloween. One Halloween, I dressed up as a Cyndi Lauper/Madonna hybrid, and I loved the look so much that I wore the outfit even when it wasn’t a holiday. In fact, I think I still have the single black glove with the fingers cut off lying around here somewhere.
Another Halloween, my mom sewed me a white cat costume even though I really wanted to be a black kitty. Her fear was that while Trick-Or-Treating, I would be invisible to cars. Jeez, my mom was smart, but of course I didn’t realize it then. So, I was a white cat. Years later in high school, I was still a white cat, only without the costume. For some reason, I felt the need to prance around on my tiptoes and clean my face with my paws, er, hands. No, I wasn’t drunk during those entire four years; it’s just a thing I did every once in a while. That, and peeing in random people’s yards for money.
Ahem. Anyway. Where was I? Right. Halloween.
One of my favorite things to do from November 1st to October 31st is to prepare for Halloween by watching scary movies. Some of my favorites include The Exorcist, The Ring, Paranormal Activity, and Alien. Sometimes when I’m feeling a bit wicked, I’ll pull all my long hair in front of my face and do that jerky walk like Samara in The Ring toward my BF. He doesn’t find this humorous.
As you may have figured out, Halloween is my very favorite holiday of all the holidays ever. Which is why I celebrate it everyday. I’d like to share my giddy love with you by offering a chance to win a $10 gift card from Amazon or Barnes & Noble. You pick! See the Rafflecopter below.
Oh, and don’t forget to click the badges at the top of this post to hop around other authors’ blogs for more chances to win prizes!
Hey! One of my writing friends, Kary Rader, is now on tour for her recently released new adult novel, A Taylor-Made Life. Kary graciously agreed to answer my never-ending questioning tirade as part of her stop at my blog because she’s awesome. Also, be sure to read to the very bottom for a really cool giveaway!!
Let’s go!
Me: Why do you write?
Kary: The simplest answer is — Because I have to. I really don’t know what else I’d do. Writing is so much a part of who I am. At first it was a release for me to expel pent up emotions, but now it’s more. I want to bless and encourage with my words and stories.
Me: What’s the last song you listened to on purpose?
Kary: Michael W. Smith’s Breathe – it encourages me to give thanks for everything I have, to realize words on a page don’t mean anything unless they touch and inspire—and no matter what I write I can’t do that by myself.
Me: What is your favorite salty treat?
Kary: Any kind of nuts-pecans, cashews, sunflower seeds
Me: Where did the idea for A Taylor-Made Life come from?
Kary: Five years ago while I was pregnant with my youngest child, my husband was diagnosed with Stage IV melanoma cancer. It was a difficult and emotional time in our lives. He’s now well and cancer free, but last year when a friend’s daughter was diagnosed with cancer, all those emotions came flooding back. I felt so helpless. Through my prayers, I asked, “What can I do?” and God gave me the scripture Acts 3:6, “Silver and gold have I none, but such as I have give I thee….” I write stories. That’s what I had and that’s what I gave – this story.
Me: Here’s a free plane ticket! Where would you like to go?
Kary: Up until two years ago, I would’ve said Australia or Europe, but now I’d have to say Richmond, VA to visit my sister.
Me: That’s so sweet! What are you going to do right after you finish this interview?
Kary: Fix my kids breakfast—but only this once. I’m really looking forward to school starting. Oddly enough, they’re not.
Me: School starts for me on Thursday. Adios, summer! Would you rather have hiccups for the rest of your life or feel like you need to sneeze but not be able to for the rest of your life?
Kary: Well, as you might imagine, I’ve put a tremendous amount of thought into this and can honestly say I’d prefer neither, but I do have a great remedy for getting rid of hiccups-a spoonful of sugar. I know it seems very Mary Poppins-ish but it really works. 🙂
Me: I’ve never tried that, but I always have the hiccups so I’ll have to see for myself if sugar works! What’s the name of the book you’re reading?
Kary: I just finished Tangled by Emma Chase—the most fun I’ve had reading this year. It was like reading Ferris Bueller all grown up. A romance 100% from a man’s POV—a conceited, hilarious, pig of a man.
Me: I’ve heard of that book but haven’t read it yet. What scares you?
Kary: Nothing for very long because I know to whom I belong, and He is always with me.
Me: Pop or soda or soda pop or Coke?
Kary: Diet Coke
Me: Cats or dogs?
Kary: Cats
Me: Good answer! What’s the one thing you can’t live without?
Kary: My God – literally and figuratively in all things.

They lived the life they were given; they loved the life they made.
Cheerleader Taylor Smith doesn’t want to die a virgin. Unfortunately, if the terminally-ill leukemia patient doesn’t find a lover or a stem-cell match within months, her fear will become reality. With his melanoma cancer beyond the help of his riches, he agrees to participate in a cancer patient mentoring program where he’s matched with a dying teen from Texas. Despite his immediate attraction, the Silicon Valley whiz intends only to provide friendship and happy memories to the beautiful, young woman who is determined to win his love.

Hurray! It’s time for MFRW’s YA blog hop, and I’m so excited to be participating! The theme for this hop is change, something that no one in the history of the planet can avoid. But change isn’t always a bad thing.
Take my main character, Leigh from The Grave Winner, for example (please don’t actually take her, though!) – one of the many changes she endures in this story is that her best friend’s brother suddenly takes an interest in her. She eventually realizes that this interest isn’t all that sudden, but her perception of him has changed now that she knows. She sees him for what he is – a hot jock who would do just about anything for her.
Of course, not all the changes that happen to Leigh are cute. She has just lost her mom, and as you can imagine, this leaves Leigh devastated. Her family now has to cope with the huge hole in their lives, and Leigh feels like she has to fill that hole with something. No, I can’t tell you what that something is. I can tell you, though, that it leads to very, very bad things…
Excerpts of all the YA authors’ books can be found here: YA_Hop_Excerpt_Book
Would you like a free e-book copy of The Grave Winner? Just leave a comment about how well you handle change or what the biggest change in your life has been so far and your email address! I’ll pick one random winner!
Summary:
Leigh Baxton is terrified her mom will come back from the dead — just like the prom queen did.
While the town goes beehive over the news, Leigh bikes to the local cemetery and buries some of her mom’s things in her grave to keep her there. When the hot and mysterious caretaker warns her not to give gifts to the dead, Leigh cranks up her punk music and keeps digging.
She should have listened.
Two dead sorceresses evicted the prom queen from her grave to bury someone who offered certain gifts. Bury them alive, that is, then resurrect them to create a trio of undead powerful enough to free the darkest sorceress ever from her prison inside the earth.
With help from the caretaker and the dead prom queen, Leigh must find out what’s so special about the gifts she gave, and why the sorceresses are stalking her and her little sister. If she doesn’t, she’ll either lose another loved one or have to give the ultimate gift to the dead – herself.
Drum roll, please! I have the winners of the Summer Lovin’ Blog Hop. Would you like to know who they are?
The winner of the shiny Kindle Paperwhite is Maria Maltais!
The winner of the huge swag pack and the $25 gift card is Kristi Chambers!
The winner of the $5 gift card to the book store of their choice is Connie Phillips!
Congratulations to all the winners!
