It has been too long since I’ve released a book, but that changes today! Meet Maxx, the purple alien king, and Nera, captain of a spaceship that can’t land and who can’t help but fall for him…on a reality dating show!
I got the idea for this book during lockdown of the pandemic, and it ReFuSeD to leave me alone! I had such a rediculously fun time writing this one. 🙂
Here’s the blurb:
On Alien Love Island, the days are hot, but the nights are scorching…
It’s not every day I tie up an alien warrior king. It’s because, in part, he put his hands down my pants to retrieve a top-secret package. Hey, where else was I going to put it? For some reason he’s not telling me, he wants this mysterious package. My orders are to deliver it and not to him.
But when we’re both kidnapped and dropped onto a deserted island, my plans for ringing his neck and then day-drinking shoot out the window.
Only the island’s not so deserted. The alien king and I have just stumbled onto the set of the first season of Alien Love Island, an intergalactic reality TV dating show.
Big, sarcastic yay.
One of the many, many problems with this? We never agreed to appear on the show. The producers make it clear that we have no choice though.
To stay alive, we play our parts. But when the cameras aren’t rolling, the alien king and I must work together to find out what’s really going on.
Is this mysterious package the reason we’re here? What’s the alien king hiding? Who invented sizzling-hot alien kings I can’t take my mind–or my hands–off of anyway?
The answers just might change us both forever.

I’m so excited about this book! One of my favorite types of stories to write are revenge books, and I love this one so much. Here’s the delicious cover and what the book’s about!
Last spring, Dawn found her older brother dead in a pool of his blood. His killer stood over him, wearing a smile as sharp and ghastly as his knife.
Last summer, she tracked the killer down. He’s a student at Necromancer Academy and part of a secret fraternity known as the Diabolicals.
This fall, Dawn will scrap her admission to the prestigious White Magic Academy. She’ll trade sparkly healing charms and bright dresses for death charms and black cloaks. She’ll melt into the shadowy halls of Necromancer Academy.
And she will have her revenge.
Necromancer Academy is the first book in a four-book series. Each book ends in a cliffhanger.

Book Release: CLOAKED IN FUR by T.F. Walsh
To celebrate T.F. Walsh’s release of her paranormal romance, Cloaked in Fur, she has graciously agreed to stop by my blog so that we can grill get to know her.
Here we go!
Me: I think I already know the answer to this, but would you rather be a vampire or a werewolf? 🙂
T: Hi, Lindsey. Thanks for having me on your blog today.
If you asked me that back in high school, I would have said vampire for sure. But these days, I’ve grown fonder of werewolves.
Me: What’s the scariest thing you’ve ever done?
T: It would have to be the time I got caught in Tokyo, Japan during their mega earthquake in 2011. There is a small funny moment in this. Hubby and I were up on level 36 of the hotel and I had just climbed out of the shower. As I was getting dressed, I said to hubby, “I think the hotel’s put a heater and massaging machine beneath the bathroom floor.”
He came to check. I moved into the hallway, and noticed the floor was still vibrating. Hubby said, “It’s nothing. Just a small earthquake. Japan has them all the time.”
Then, the big earthquake hit, the building swayed crazily, and I completely freaked out. Scariest thing ever!
Me: Oh, wow! That would be scary! The supernatural – is it real? Why or why not?
T: Now you’ve got me stumped. I go by the philosophy that something should exist beyond us, eg. Ghosts, but at the same time I struggle to believe it because I’ve never experienced it myself. But I do love hearing people’s personal ghost stories. Gives me the major creeps.
Me: What’s your favorite planet?
T: It’s a tie between Jupiter and Saturn. They’re both so intriguing in different ways. I’ll watch any documentary I find on Jupiter or Saturn.
Me: Okay, here’s a tough question. I know you love to bake, so what is your favorite dessert of all time?
T: That’s not too hard. I can never pass up a crème caramel. My all time favorite dessert. 🙂
Me: Yum! What’s the name of the book you’re reading?
T: Gameboard of the Gods by Richelle Mead
Me: Where did the idea for Cloaked in Fur come from?
T: I grew up watching and reading everything on horror, especially if it included monster and creatures of the night. And even today, that passion trickles into my writing. There isn’t a story I write that doesn’t include a sinister dark foe that hides in the shadows. Cloaked in Fur was a combination of me wanting to explore how far someone would go to save their true love mixed with werewolves and strong pack loyalty.
Me: I can relate! Why do you write?
T: Like most writers, I have an overactive imagination, and writing is an avenue to express my ideas and myself. Plus, I don’t think I could do anything else. I love writing.
Me: Other than your release day, what is something you’re really looking forward to?
T: Well, my birthday is coming up really soon, and not only do I get spoiled by hubby, but it’s a great time when I get together with family and friends. And there’s no excuse for not eating cake. 🙂
Me: Happy early birthday! What scares you?
T: This will probably sound silly and contradictory to some of the above answers, but with my crazy imagination, I hate the dark. I always imagine monsters jumping out of the corners or grabbing my feet from beneath the steps. Of course, it’s illogical because those things don’t exist, but try telling my mind and fear that. Hubby always laughs at me.
Me: What’s the last song you listened to on purpose?
T: Young And Beautiful by Lana Del Rey
Me: I haven’t heard that song before, but it’s incredibly haunting! Did you learn anything today? If so, what?
T: Even when I’m not in the mood for writing, by sitting in a café filled with people, I’ll always produce something great. It’s the pressure. Always works.
Me: Awesome! What’s the one thing you can’t live without?
T: That’s simple. My husband.
Awwww! That’s so sweet! Here’s a bit more about Cloaked in Fur and T.F. Walsh.
As a moonwulf, Daciana never expected to fall in love with a human. Hell, she never imagined that she’d abandon her pack, endanger everyone around her, and break the worst rule possible. But she did.
A rogue werewolf is killing Daciana’s friends, and she sets on capturing the creature. She’ll do whatever it takes to stop the beast. The police and her boyfriend, Inspector Connell Lonescu, are starting to question her involvement in the murders, which is endangering the pack’s secret existence. But when the pack alpha kidnaps Connell, revealing the awful truth about the creature and its connection to the pack, Daciana must choose between saving the man she loves and saving her pack family from certain death.

Actually it’s a belated birthday, but it still counts! My fellow Crescent Moon Press sister, Wendy S. Russo, has just released her debut YA book called January Black.
Here’s the cover:
Pet it. Love it. It’s so pretty!
Here’s the blurb:
As the son of The Hill’s commandant, sixteen-year-old Matty Ducayn is expected to conform to a strict, unspoken code of conduct. Small acts of defiance over years—such as walking on the grass—have earned him a reputation for being unruly. When sarcastic test answers finally get Matty expelled from school, King Hadrian offers him a diploma if he can answer a deceptively simple question.
What was January Black?
The challenge takes Matty, and his girlfriend Iris, beyond The Hill’s walls and tightly controlled media into a gritty world kept in check by riot police. There, the young couple follows a path through old books and clandestine news pages that becomes a collision course with a deadly royal degree.
As he realizes he’s been set up to fail, Matty must make a choice: walk away from the challenge with Iris and his life. Or call the king’s bluff.
It’s available at Amazon in both Kindle and paperback versions, and it’s available at Barnes and Noble. You should totally go read it!
Immortal Ink Publishing has some stunning covers for their books, so when they asked if I would like to help in the cover reveal, I said absolutely!
The first is called Lesser Evils by Christ Goddard. She also wrote Four in the Morning. If you haven’t read it, you should go do it.
Here’s the blurb:
When young Jakorus is hurled twenty years into his future, he’s confronted with a horrifying truth—the world has changed for the worse, and it’s his fault.
Now in the twenty-first century, the hidden island of Cybraxas teeters at the brink of civil war. Paranormals of all races have secretly coexisted with humans for centuries, but the illusion of peace crumbles when a rebellious faction fights to overturn their primary law: humans are not food. They assert the human herd needs thinning if the planet is to endure.
In his youth, an angry and embittered Jakorus believed in the rebellion’s rhetoric and joined its ranks. Repentant of his sins when he is older, a young Jakorus sent from the past seemed the perfect solution to fix his mistakes. But each Jakorus trapped in this time loop only makes things more perilous. In order to restore the original timeline, the newest Jakorus learns he must murder innocents, betray friends, and repeat the same immoral choices the original Jakorus made. If he fails, the rebellion will blossom into civil war.
But through it all, Jakorus has his own problem—both he and his future self are in love with the same girl.

Cover reveal number two is for Carole Lanham’s The Reading Lessons.
Here’s the blurb:
Mississippi 1920: Nine year old servant, Hadley Crump, finds himself drawn into a secret world when he is invited to join wealthy Lucinda Browning’s dirty book club. No one suspects that the bi-racial son of the cook is anything more to Lucinda than a charitable obligation, but behind closed doors, O! she doth teach the torches to burn bright. What begins as a breathless investigation into the more juicy parts of literature quickly becomes a consuming and life-long habit for two people who would not otherwise be left alone together. As lynchings erupt across the South and the serving staff is slowly cut to make way for new mechanical household conveniences, Hadley begins to understand how dangerous and precarious his situation is.
The Reading Lessons follows the lives of two people born into a world that is unforgiving as a Hangman’s knot. Divided by skin color and joined by books, Hadley and Lucinda are forced to come together in the only place that will allow it, a land of printed words and dark secrets.

I give you permission to pet these covers! You know you want to!
Books! There are too many of them! Two that I’m absolutely itching to read and will have to be bumped up my TBR list are:
Check out the blood splatter on This Is Not a Test! Wow! I’ve loved the cover since I first saw it. It’s about the zombie apocalypse, so hopefully it will help me prepare my zombie apocalypse survival plan. I’m sorry, what? You don’t think the zombie apocalypse will ever come? Are you sure? Have you heard about this???
The second book, The Emotion Thesaurus: A Writer’s Guide to Character Expression, is a must-have if you’re tired of having your characters smile and grit their teeth and smile through gritted teeth. I rely on the authors’ blog A LOT!
This Is Not a Test is on my kitchen table. The Emotion Thesaurus is waiting for me on Amazon. I just have to keep plowing through Fifty Shades of Grey (umm, pun intended), then I’ll get started on both of these!
What books are you dying to read? Do you have a zombie apocalypse survival plan?

No, not really. But it sure feels like it with this happy birthday Amazon gift card in there! This is truly the best gift out of all the gifts ever. I ask for Amazon gift cards for every single holiday, and lucky me, I usually get one!
So I have a ton of stuff in my online shopping cart, including books and a humongous shark hat. Don’t judge. There are a bunch more books I could order that are on my To Be Read list, but what if I’m missing something? What if there’s a book out there I haven’t heard of, or maybe I’ve heard of it, but I forgot about it, or maybe I’ve heard of it, but it’s not too high on my list because it might be meh, but it’s really great, and I must read it right this second?!?!
Whoa. That would be awful. So I ask you, dear blog readers, what books should I put in my Amazon shopping cart? What am I missing out on? What will make me staple my eyes open to read way past my bedtime?
It could be anything: children’s, YA, adult, fiction, nonfiction, how to make shark hats, what to do if there’s a shark infestation in your toilet, etc. Yes, I’ve already read The Hunger Games. What else ya’ got?

School starts very soon. I officially go back on Wednesday. Bye bye summer vacation. But I think I’m ready for it to be over. I’m finished editing The Grave Winner, though I’m still waiting for one last beta read. My query letter and synopsis are ready. I’ve written a few short stories this summer. It’s been a productive few months.
Last week, I started putting together my massive beginning-of-the-year book order so the kiddos will have new shiny books to read when they start school. It’s done. Now I’m all excited to get these new books ready for the library and do my job as a book pusher.
Here’s a normal day:
AÂ kid walks in the door, and I usually say, “Hey. You. I got this book here with your name all over it. You know you have to have it. You better take it or else.”
He smiles and reaches for the book. “Or else what?”
“Bad horrible things.” I type in their check out number because I have them all memorized (almost). “And your cooties are all over it now, so you have to check it out. HA!”
“Whatever, Miss Loucks,” the kid says. Then he rushes out with a huge smile plastered to his face.
It happens again and again, day after day. I feed young brains with books, and they keep coming back for more! I’m a book pusher.
