Halloween is almost here, and I have the perfect book for you to read to scare yourself senseless. It’s called Dead of Eve, and it’s written by Pam Godwin, who is one of my critique partners. Believe me when I say it’s a well-written thrill ride!
Here’s the cover and blurb:
A virus devastates humanity. Few men survive. The rest are monsters. The women are dead, except Evie.
Through a quirk in her genetics, she survives. When her physiology begins to evolve, she must come to terms with what she is and accept her role in finding a cure.
The mutated hunt her. The men brutalize her…except three. Cryptic warrior, contrite lover, caring enemy; they are fiercely protective of the last living woman, but divided in their own agendas. Can they come together to protect the only hope for humanity?
Evie must survive.

Also, on a completely unrelated note, I have the winner of The Stars Fell Sideways by Cassandra Marshall ebook winner! If you entered the giveaway, I wrote your name on a slip of paper and picked one at random. And the winner is Pam! Congratulations, Pam. I’ll be emailing you shortly…
Oooh! Looks like another good one. Wish I could join your critique group if your book and this one are examples of the quality of writing to expect. It might feed my inner book junkie as well as help my own (often avoided) writing. (*grin*) On another note… how is the next book coming?
Another vote for DoE. I’ve read it and give it as many stars as I can.
@Lindsey, Thank you sooo much for the promo on your blog. AND I won The Stars Fell Sideways steampunk novel??? Hell yeah!!!! This is the best Halloween ever!
@J: Thanks for the glowy votey stars, yo!
@robitille: critiquecircle.com…it’s the best online writing group on the planet
I agree with what everyone has said here. Dead of Eve is an excellantly written book that’ll suck you in from the first paragraph. I’m glad I met Pam through cirtiquecircle as she helped my writing soooo much.
Good luck with this book, Pam.
Lindsey, why haven’t we met at CC?
Yup, Dead of Eve rocks! Starting it tonight, would probably finish it in one sitting if I didn’t have to read by candle light (damn Hurricane Sandy). I read it early on so I’m super excited to read it again and see what changes Pam made to it. But I can tell you right now an easy five star novel!!
Melissa – Consider yourself invited to our critique group! Like Pam said, we do our critiquing on critiquecircle.com. It’s awesome! Umm, the next book? Well, I’m having some trouble getting a ghost story in space out of my head. There are too many stories up there and not enough time!
J – Agreed!
Pam – Has Cassandra contacted you yet about her book you won?
Dana – Yes! Pam has helped me a lot too through her critiques. I’m not sure why we haven’t met over at CC! I’m Turtledino over there.
CK – I’m so sorry you have to read by candle light! Was your property damaged at all? I, too, read Dead of Eve early on and am anxious to read the final product!
Thanks for asking, Lindsey, my family and I are all safe. We got lucky with our boat though. Out of a hundred others it was the only one still on it’s blocks, all the others were on their sides. I have a lot of friends on the water who lost everything so I’m thankful that candlelight is my only worry. 🙁
I started Dead of Eve last night. So good!! I missed the first five chapters so it’s all new to me!! I have seen you around CC! I’ve always missed you. Your stories would be at chapter 15 when I saw them. Great blog by the way!! And everyone who is looking for a kick ass book, needs to read Dead Of Eve. Like right now, before Pam finds out you didn’t. Quick!!!
I think you’ve critiqued one of my short stories before, CK. Maybe Willow Road, but I could be wrong.
I’m glad to hear you and your family are safe!
@Lindsey: Got the THE STARS FELL SIDEWAYS. Can’t wait to read.
@Christine: So what you’re saying is you’ve got lots of candle wax. I hope you aren’t letting that go to waste 😉 Seriously though, I’ve been thinking about you guys. And thank you, as always, for the Evie cheers. Can’t wait to return the favor when your debut, HERON PARK, releases soon.
